OpenAI reportedly asking contractors to add actual work from previous jobs

OpenAI and coaching information firm Handshake AI are asking third-party contractors to add actual work that they did in previous and present jobs, in response to a report in Wired.

This seems to be half of a bigger technique throughout AI firms which are hiring contractors to generate high-quality coaching information within the hopes that this can ultimately permit their fashions to automate extra white-collar work.

In OpenAI’s case, an organization presentation reportedly asks contractors to explain duties they’ve carried out at different jobs and add examples of “actual, on-the-job work” that they’ve “really finished.” These examples can embrace “a concrete output (not a abstract of the file, however the precise file), e.g., Phrase doc, PDF, Powerpoint, Excel, picture, repo.”

The corporate reportedly instructs contractors to delete proprietary and personally identifiable info earlier than importing, and it factors them to a ChatGPT “Celebrity Scrubbing” software to take action.

Nonetheless, mental property lawyer Evan Brown instructed Wired that any AI lab taking this strategy is “placing itself at nice threat” with an strategy that requires “quite a lot of belief in its contractors to determine what’s and isn’t confidential.”

An OpenAI spokesperson declined to remark.
